The Solar Eclipse of October 2022

On Tuesday October 25th 2022, the second Solar Eclipse of the year occurs.

This is a partial solar eclipse that will be visible from most of Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East, and western parts of Asia.

The duration of the eclipse, visible from the first location to the last, is from 8:58 to 13:02 (UTC time).

In some parts of India, it will be visible between 4:29 pm and 5:42 pm.

(During a solar eclipse, it is best never to look at the sun directly).

Partial solar eclipses happen when the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth, but the Moon only partially covers the Sun’s disk.

What does the solar eclipse signify at this time?

Solar eclipses relate to the new moon, indicating new beginnings or the start of a new cycle.

As eclipses tend to trigger highly potent and intense experiences, the new beginnings would likely relate to new cycles with long term implications.

As per the tropical zodiac, this solar eclipse occurs in the sign of Scorpio in conjunction with the South Node.

This placement would indicate a deep transformative period and a need to release and reveal all that lies buried deep within. It may be likened to uprooting all that has been festering or lying dormant all this while.

The conjunction of the eclipse to the South Node indicates releasing past patterns, habits and tendencies that do not serve a healthy purpose. Letting go becomes the key word here.

Additionally, this eclipse occurs in alignment with the planet Venus. There would, therefore, be an inevitable focus on one’s relationships, especially those that carry deep feelings, for better or worse. Here, matters relating to the past would need to be addressed, or feelings that have been clammed up, would need to be released, to ensure a healthy outcome. This may also relate to matters connected to one’s joint resources or resources that are dependent on another, as well.

Positively, the ability to feel deeply and intensely gets heightened and a reconnection to past relations in some way may evolve or be resolved.

On the spiritual front, a quest in matters relating to life and death may arise, directing one’s attention towards the hidden aspects of the Universe.

The Indian mystic poet, Kabir, says –

“Look upon life and death ; there is no separation between them,

The right hand and the left hand are one and the same.”

(One Hundred poems of Kabir – translated by Rabindranath Tagore)

Mars turns Retrograde

As October comes to an end, an impactful planetary occurrence happens around this time, when the planet Mars (seemingly) turns retrograde in the tropical sign of Gemini, on October 30th 2022 till January 12th 2023. (An occurrence that happens approximately every 2 years).

Mars is a planet that relates to assertive, impulsive, passionate and action oriented energies.

The apparent retrograde motion would therefore tend to intensify the heat and anger oriented feelings as well, especially in all areas of communication.

Mars has been slowing down from the end of September, and, in this coming week, just before it turns (seemingly) retrograde on the 30th of this month, heated exchanges may reach their peak.

Hence one may experience some form of intense volatility in relation to all forms of communication, or engage in back and forth actions or feel a kind of disorientation on what is the right action to take, etc – all happening due to the effects of this planetary movement. This time may also indicate some form of reversals in relation to one’s actions, happening in some way.

The solution would be to consciously calm oneself in the moment in order to get back on track, without the volatility or erraticism that would tend to arise.

Patience becomes even more vital at this time. Rushing into something would not work. This is because the next few months would be a time of re-evaluation, a time to contemplate and decide in which direction to move towards, till Mars turns (seemingly) direct mid January 2023.

In conclusion, one may contemplate on the words of the Indian mystic, sufi, saint and poet, Kabir, to help one gain a sense of true direction –

“So long as man clamours for the I and the Mine, his works are as naught:

When all love of the I and the Mine is dead, then the work of the Lord is done.

For work has no other aim than the getting of knowledge :

When that comes, then work is put away.”

(One Hundred poems of Kabir – translated by Rabindranath Tagore)

“The jewel is lost in the mud, and all are seeking for it;

Some look for it in the east, and some in the west; some in the water

and some amongst stones.

But the servant Kabir has appraised it at its true value, and has wrapped it with care in the end of the mantle of his heart.”

(One Hundred poems of Kabir – translated by Rabindranath Tagore)

Wishing all a very Happy Deepavali with God’s Grace and Blessings!

Kabir says : “ The Master, who is true. He is all light.”

(One Hundred poems of Kabir – translated by Rabindranath Tagore)
