The new moon represents new beginnings, lasting for a period of twenty eight days, till the next new moon.
In the first fortnight, during the waxing moon phase, one may begin anew.
The new moon of October 2017 falls on the day of the Hindu festival of lights, marking a time of releasing the dark shadows surrounding us and a time to light the lamp within.
The strength of will helps to ground us and holds steadfast against the sweeping tides of change that are imminent at this time. Faith keeps us strong.
This day of the new moon, brings us face to face with ourselves, reflected in our relation to all.
The face is only seen when looking in a mirror.
In the dimness of light, there appears only a shadow.
When the light of the lamp is lit and shines brightly within, the Self emerges clearly, reflecting in all.
As the month of October strongly brings out the duality of existence, let us, on this new moon day, seek to see the reality of the Self, leading us towards a path of a heart and mind at rest.
Happy Diwali!
